I replaced the leaky fuel tank on my '71 B last weekend with one of the non-vented pre-'70 type. I also replaced the older style fuel neck and vented gas cap, so in theory everything should be OK. If

The wildly ticking fuel pump and the smell of fuel would indicate a pressure side leak. Also, due to the temperature, it might be vapor lock. Try pulling on the choke when trying to restart. Regards,

I made sure the cap was of the vented variety. I replaced the filler neck with one from a '66 B (internal lug variety), and the cap is brand new. I actually removed the cap to make sure it was not a
