It takes 90w hypoid gear oil which you put in by screwing off the cap on top of the rack. Do not pump greese into the rack. Check with your workshop manuel. When I posted questions about this a number of responders said they did use grease rather than oil in their racks with no ill effects. The Haynes manual shows a Zerk fitting and says to put grease in there. Since I don't have the fitting, guess I'm suppose to put gear oil in there.
