Hello everyone, Original on the 73 BGT was 165/SR/14. The B was 155/SR/14. The unstated aspect ratio was 82. Most people fit 175/75/14 or 185/70/14 on five inch Rostyles. There can be clearance probl

Thanks all. Eric - I didn't realise the BGT had larger tyres than the roadster - I wonder why that was?? They both used the same size rims, didn't they (at least for the same model year)? I'll check

I believe earlier 'Bs had the 155R14s and later cars had the 165R14s. A check from Clausager would confirm that. -- ______ Paul T. Root / _ \ 1977 MGB / /|| \\ \ ||__// \______/

According to company brochures, when the GT was introduced it wore the same size tyre as the roadster, 5.60x14. That was true as late as 1968. The MGC and MGC-GT, incidentally, were listed with 165x1

Thanks for the advice re. Costco - unfortunately mostly irrelevant, as I'm in the UK, so I expect they do things a little differently here. They only seem to sell Michelins at our Costco. Still, Mic

Could someone tell me the stock tire sizes on an MGB roadster -- chrome bumpers 68 - 74. Also what was the aspect ratio -- 75, 80? I'm running 175 70 on my 73 MGB and was wondering how the diameter

165R14. Aspect ratio wasn't used at the time. It translates to about a 78 aspect ratio, I believe. This size is still available in some odd brands. Vredestein is one. My calculations show 185/70-14 s

In the UK 165/70 as taken as 'standard' for the 14" with 175/70 and 185/70 as options, or 186/65 for a 15". /// or try http://www.team.net/cgi-bin/majorcool /// Archives at http://www.team.net/archiv

The tires on my MGB are so old (and mismatched, which really bugs me), that I'd like to replace them. My choices are: 1) use stock sized 165r14s. Difficult to find, no performance tires in this size.

There are probably as many differing opinions about this as any other, but my feel is that the stock MGB supension is totally outclassed by today's performance rubber. For the average, road-going "B

Used to run 195/70x14's on my 'B' some years ago. When autocrossing, they would rub a bit, but a gentle massage of the inner wheel well lip fixes it. Ray
