It was heavily changed, and not for the better I might add. I've owned both, and with my MGF with hydrogas suspension ( that had sunk slightly ) I could easily take a corner near my home town at 110m

My point exactly. With the power coming out of modern I-4s, it's hard to think of engine swaps from GM, at least for me. The US Government has made it a point over the last 30-40 years to protect us
