Has anyone welded aluminum with a MIG? I have all the parts to convert my MIG to weld aluminum but have ever tried it. I even have a full tank of helium for that purpose. Larry Miller

Yes you can use a MIG to weld Al but try argon rather than helium. You will need the proper gas regulators etc. Bob Kitterer 1960 Bugeye (Mark IV in disguise) 1966 Sprite Mark III (mostly in boxes)

The spool gun is a better way because it doesn't depend on the replacement of liners. Aluminum wire won't slide through as easily. The conversion pieces usually consist of replacement liner and tips,
