The main bearings on my 68 2000 went bad, and Les suggested that I rebuild the entire engine rather than just redoing the bearings. That is a much bigger job, and I am seeking the advice of the list.

When I pulled my 100K+ U20 apart the crank was still in spec and all I did was polish it before putting in new std. Bearings and doing the rest of the rebuild. I just took another 100K U20 apart this

I'd say Les is right, if you're going to the trouble of pulling the crank, you might as well rebuild vs. having to do it all over again when you're rings stop sealing right later. Kinda false econom

Somebody didn't check the oil level!!!! Also if the 5 main cars are revved a lot the rear bearings sometimes go bad from poor design. Mike could needed

Absolutely. If the mains failed the other wear components will too. Usually from under-lubrication, but can be from age, stress or contamination. And it is NOT that much harder to do it right. By the
