- Sherman, check the coil. Where the coil is mounted on the TR4 is really suspect. The heat from the engine will destroy it. Replace with a comparable 12V. coil to check. I had this problem on my '4. I

- Hi DonI don't have the problem now- Rob Swift does. As you post his coil might be the culprit- had that problem several times over the years- bad coil=coil gets hot- 'disconnects' if lucky- when cool
