I am considering using Mobil 1 (5W50) at the next oil change. My TR6 develops oil pressure of 80 psi @ 1400 rpm cold, 50 psi @ 1400 rpm and 25 @ 800 rpm hot. Sometime soon I will have to replace the

Opinion on Mobil 1 in a TR6. Don't do it. Apart from the price (the packaging should wear a bandit mask) Mobil 1 was developed for modern engines using closer tolerances. The six pot Triumph engine w

I just overhauled my TR6 engine last winter. I use 20W-50 semi-synthetic in it and it works just fine, giving the advantages of easy starting, good oil pressure when hot, and outstanding wear protect

I use 15W-50 Mobil 1 in my TR3. IMHO 5W-50 is too thin for the "loose" clearances in a TR engine. I believe your oil pressure may drop significantly with 5-50. The 15W-50 should be fine. It works fo

I believe there is significant value in using synthetic oils, even in our older motors. The technology that has gone into this is considerable. All motors will benefit. HOWEVER, there is one small pr
