It is all crap as you have noticed. I had an exhaust mount fall apart before I could get the muffler on. Not only was the rubber crap but the steel backer was RUSTED! I had two so I tried the other

I'm having the same problem with reproduction rubber parts for my American Iron too, just not quite as fast. After one year, the reproduction stuff is in worse shape than the 35 year old stuff I took

Have a customer with a Morris Traveller. Tail light switch got stuck on. "Rubber" lens boot melted, leaving the lens and retainer ring somewhere on a city street! However, it was at least a year old!
