I used nothing on the exhaust gaskets. Maybe Hylomar on the inlet gaskets - I can't remember. I don't think there's a problem with or without. I set up the dynamo alignment with a clock guage. Regar

THERE WAS WHITE LEAD, AND QUIGLEY CEMENT (which was as hard as carburendum when cured, water based, too). Glyptol goes way back too. Besides, how many times have those studs been in and out????? The
