I suppose it's possible, but I think that a desmogged US spec version is more likely (particularly since the air pumps and catalytic converters they used were unreliable and expensive).. Chris Kottin

The head may have been replaced at some time, which wouldnt change the block number. If the head has four pipe plugs on top along the manifold side then it has been desmogged.Would spitifires prior

The '73/'74 Spitfires did not have the airpump, so the heads do not have the air injection fittings (or more typically plugs ;-). Jim Spitfires and Sprites and Minis ... oh my!

Not a 5 -spd but I am very pleased with the conversion I did in fitting a T**ph overdrive tranny. Works extremely well on the 1500 and very little hassle to fit Guy
