Hey James, AFAIK, the shims are used to make the crank pulley align with the crank hole. Mine fit up without shims. Bill Brewer Tehachapi, CA using new mounts. jf

The shims are used so the manual engine crank on the pully lines up with the guide in the front apron. If you dont use the manual crank you dont have to worry about the shims. Bob Labuz 1958 TR3A 19
