I believe that carbon buildup on the valves and or head could cause high compression readings. However, since all the readings are fairly close I wouldn't give it another thought. Rob Rhodes Columbia

car park attendent. You may have an earlier engine. Check the engine number and compare it to just about any source (like the front of most catalogs) or better, "The Original MGB".
