I am at the point of refitting the oil pan to the 1275 rebuild. Should the cork main bearing seals go in dry or gopped up with some permatex type stuff? Also should they be trimed flush with the pan

DO NOT TRIM!!! Soak them in oil, install them with the ears sticking up, once the pan is bolted on, they will compress to form an almost leakproof seal. -- Frank Clarici Toms River, NJ United We Stan

== Agree. To ease the job a bit, I've used a scissors jack to support the pan whilst getting the screws tight. Not a fan of silicone sealants for this. Peter C.
