- Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice. I did move the wire to the other prong at the tank and the gauge read full. Fortunately the PO gave me a box of parts which did include a new sending unit.

- Sounds Like coil, Coil operates gets hot circuit in coil opens due to heat I have had problems with electronic ignitons after they sat at the wreckers or yards for a period of time. Carl E. --Origina
