I've been reading the e-mails about OD and noticed on more than one occasion that using OD in 3rd gear was a possibility. OD is new to me in my 76B after having the two 63 B's without it. Can you use

I believe that only in the later years (74 or 75 on?) were you restricted to 4th in o.d. The o.d. drops the ratio in 3rd just like it does in 4th, by about 20%. It's handy when cruising between 45 a

I use mine in third, why not? I could shift, but all I have to do is flip the little lever. Usually I do it when I know I am going to have to stop in under a mile or so for stoplight anyway.... don't

The earlier ratios were such that there wasn't much point in using o/d 3rd, it was almost the same as 4th. Later o/ds had the od 3rd ratio almost slap-bang in the middle of 3rd and 4th which makes it

There are two types of OD fitted to MGBs. One allows operation in 3rd and 4th; the other in 4th only. It seems you have the second type. But you can easily find out by just trying it in 3rd. Where it
