Glad you and Irene are OK!!! One issue with engine conversions is how close the exhaust manifold & pipes are to any brake lines. It is not uncommon to build up a lot of heat near brake components. P

Heat can do horrible things to brakes. I once overheated my brakes on my Chevelle driving in the mountains of New Mexico. I didn't realize they had overheated until I tried to come to a complete stop

Glad you are OK also! Mastercylinders can leak around the pressure seal , and not leak past the seal that keeps the fluid in the master bore. By the way, that is one of the easiest masters to rebuil

Fluid can leak between the seals and not necessarily out of the master. That happened to me on my Acura but Honda gave me a brand new master after 3 years of ownership. They were blahblahing about it

My guess is that the mechanic used DOT 3 brake fluid when he changed the master. On british cars it melts the natural rubber seals. Rebuild the master, flush the hydraulic system, and fill with Cast
