Those formulae printed by Ed are chemically and mathematically correct, but don't do it. Xylene is, in fact, an octane booster. I worked in a refinery for a short time after I retired the second time

Yes... the "good ol' days." When I ran my GTO back in the 60s, I used Sonoco 260. It was about 103 octane, if I remember correctly. Some of you East Coast guys might remember the right octane rating

I think just somebody has too much time on their hands. On a street engine this would not help any, 88 octane vs a mixture at 99.5 octane. Does not add any horsepower or performance so why do it? Jon
