- Is there any chance the dipstick is from a different engine? There are (at least) two types of MGB dipsticks, and they differ in length. Pretty scary way to be different, considering the consequences

- Was the oil cooler removed and drained as part of the engine rebuild? The cooler and associated hoses hold a lot of oil which doesn't drain when doing a regular oil change. They also don't refill unt
