I had always thought the drain back valve was the rubber ring that you could see through the holes surrounding the large threaded center hole. The NAPA 1515 had a diagram of the wonderful features, a

Hi Jack, The Purolator filter I use has the anti-drainback valve and can be seen thru the holes. The part # is L280001. This is NOT the number called for in the book but IS a cross for the WIX filter
