I ran into the same problem with the Fram filters also. It's a bit of a head scratcher when the supposedly same parts will not fit. You can cut the tube as it's easier to make something shorter as o

Fram filters suck!!!! They're the worst garbage out there. An AC Delco PF34 will fit and Valvoline filters will fit but I don't have the part no. BTW, The correct Fram is 2825. Mike

Almost all filters have that feature. Use an OEM Nissan filter. I also use an AC Delco PF34 on my car. No Frams though :) Mike 'anti-drainback' feature that would do the same thing that the tube does

You can use modern Nissan filters that have the shorter case too. Plenty of cars use the same type of filter and no, they will not become obsolete. Mike
