Do you remember when you could buy a magnetized sump drain plugs? They were meant to trap iron metal particles so they could be removed at engine and transmission oil changes. Did you ever buy one?

For most applications, an aviation mechanic told me that oil begins to breakdown after 100 engine hours. Assuming about a 40 mph average speed that works out to about 4000 miles. So changing every 30

I remember working w/a guy 20 years ago who had an oil filter that used a roll of toilet paper for a filter medium. And yes, the oil did remain clear & pristine--but isn't it oil breakdown & dilution
