On my way home yesterday, about a mile away, I glanced down and noticed that my oil pressure reads Zero. I got it home fine, but now the question is: Can (should) I drive it 8-10 miles to the mechani

Assuming you have the stock Tiger gauge, there are two possible causes: -No oil pressure in engine, and some bits may be toast already. -Broken gauge pressure line. Both are bad, though the first is

First check the oil level and add as necessary. Once full, start the engine and look for leaks and listen for valve train noise. Assuming you have hydraulic lifters, lots of loud clicking indicates

Hi Randy, I've heard of Mobil 1 causing low oil pressure indications (which, if the gauge isn't broken, means that you do, indeed, have low oil pressure), but my own experience with using Mobil 1 was

Oil pressure is directly related to all engine bearing clearances, oil pump rotor and internal clearances, and the pressure relief valve. You have to look for cracks in the pump housing, clear the p

Supplement to Ron's good advice. There are plenty of Tiger's that have had block, pan, front cover, oil dip stick, tube, or both replaced. This could result in a false reading of oil level, and be an

One of the places Ford small blocks lose pressure is through the cam bearings. Did you have those replaced? Secondly, don't expect "Chevy" oil pressures from the Ford motor, but 15 psi does sound a l

The Mobil One should not limit the oil pressure unless it is a low viscosity such a 0W-20, if you are running a 5 or 10W-30 I would look elsewhere for the problem. If your readings are accurate I wou

Also, don't neglect to try another gauge!! When I put my new rebuilt 260 back in after years of sitting, the stock oil pressure gauge was stuck at 0. Temporarily, hang another gauge and verify yours.

Here's another data point. In my stock 260, 20W50 is virtually always at about 50psi at idle. With 10W40 warmed up in the same engine, the idle pressure drops a bit, the 30's maybe. But its back at 5
