Does anyone know the approximate flow rate out of a TR3/4 oil pump? I'd like to determine whether the huge hoses to the oil cooler are really necessary. Larry Young == unsubscribe/change address requ

I don't know the actual flow rate, but I can say the only reason I use big hoses is they were given to me by a friend that works for a Nextel Cup team. I thought the price was right, but by the time

-10 oil hoses are the size to use. The longer the hoses the larger in diameter they need to be. For a TR-4 -10 is large enough for most applications. You do not want the hoses to be a restriction to

Generally the reasons for big lines are not purely to match pump flow rate. They are: -The size of the fittings on the coolers. These are usually -10 or so. -The length of the lines. Flow restriction

I don't know the exact number, but it's easy to figure out. I know for a fact that if you start up the engine with the Accusump hose inadvertently not connected, you will get a shot of 40 wt about 15

I'd like to determine whether the huge hoses to the oil cooler are really necessary. Also need to make sure that no fittings used in the system will reduce it down to much less than -10 hose ID. Glen

But don't forget that the pump is positive displacement, which means it's output goes up with rpm. That means roughly 10 times as much oil at 8000 rpm as at 800 rpm. Less of course whatever goes thr
