- Does anybody see a problem with using a water temp gauge as a oil temp gauge? Is the tempature range similar on both? I don't think the senders care if its water or oil. Just wondering. Toby

- I use a Combination Gauge on my boat's Yanmar diesel, where I have the Temperature bulb reading the oil temp. Runs about 65' Don't know if that's the right temp for the oil, but it's what I normally

- An oil temp sensor should be where the oil is hotest - usually the sump. If you have the sensor after the oil cooler you will never know if the engine oil is overheating. Daniel1312 << oil tank gauge
