Hmmmm 75lbs. Is that what a reasonable engine should be getting? I get about 65 when the we first start up but it drops down to about 35-45 when running. At idle after warmup I'm seeing about 20. Sho

What gears are you talking about? What are the drive gears in the engine? The only gears I can think of are the ones that drive the oil pump and distributor.. Are you talking about the timing gears?

The cruising pressure is acceptable, but the idle is a bit low. What oil are you using? Anything thinner than 20-50 will manifest these symptoms (as will old oil - you are changing every 3K miles?).

You should be using a filter which has a functional anti-drain (back-flow) valve in it, so your oil pump doesn't have to fill the filter before it begins to oil your bearings when you start up. In m
