I haven't done a swap, so I can't respond to the drive shaft length. I've read conflicting reports. It may depend on which OD transmission you got. There is a difference between 68-76 or so and the 7

Others probably (likely, actually) know much more than I, but it is my understanding that the drive shafts for 4-synch trannies are the same, OD or not. If the drive train is out of the car, do yours

I converted by 71BGT over to an OD transmission about seven years ago. The main cost was the OD transmission that I got from a junkyard (plus the shorter driveshaft). At the time, it was about $400.
