- How can you tell if an overdrive planet carrier is a 22% or 28%? Is there any difference? Mine is damaged due to seized bearings on one of the planet gears and I want to make sure I get the right one

- Don't know about other models, Tomas, but the BJ8 overdrive indicates 22% in the first two digits of the overdrive serial number. For example, 22/1709/000338, 22/1709/000560, etc. Steve Byers HBJ8L/3

- Thanks Michael & Steve. I did not know that. But is there a dimension one can measure on the carrier itself to check if it is the same as my old one, i.e. is the distance between each gear different

- Dont know if this is any help, but I have spoken to this UK company at shows, they were set up by ex-laycock engineers when it shutdown, and were very helpfull. I'm sure they could help with tech in

- Hi Tomas, The main difference between the two OD ratios is that: The 22% OD has 24 teeth on the large planet, 15 teeth on the small planet & a 21 tooth sun gear. The 28% OD has 21 teeth on the large
