I bought a 1980 B without OD and put in a 1971 trans with OD and bought all the shifter knob switches and cap to put the switch on the gear knob. It worked fine without any problems. I don't know if

It most likely is leaking from the point you describe. Normally a rubber plug provides a seal to prevent oil leakage at the point where the wires enter the transmission casing. But rubber deteriorate
