- Any speed at which the engine will pull it comfortably. I.E.: 40 mph on level terrain in 4th gear. I used to kick in the overdrive as a rev extender in 2nd and 3rd, like shifting gears. Not if the OD

- The owners manual says to engage the OD without pressing the clutch. There is a low-speed limit on the thing, but you wouldn't want the OD at that low speed anyway. In the last iteration of the OD,

- You can engage overdrive at anyspeed in 3 or 4th gear - but I probably wouldnt over do it. There is no need to depress the clutch nor increase engine speed. Rick <http://home.ptd.net/~mgrick/council.

- Hi Charlie: Read your overdrive thread and must advise you that the 69B overdrive should not be functioning in 2nd gear. If it is then your 3rd & 4th gear isolation switch is faulty. Extream caution

- Hi and thanks for the warning. As it happens I was aware of that. When I retrofitted the O/D into my `70 roadster I defeated the lockout switch on purpose. I had that thing going into O/D in any gear

- More like midway on mine. Clausager says 3rd - 5.402, 3rd o/d - 4.429, 4th - 3.909, 4th o/d 3.205. OK, not midway, but nearer midway than 4th. PaulH.

- Yerite - the 3-synchro box and D-type O/D (0.802:1 as opposed to 0.82:1 for the LH) does indeed give 1.101:1 for 3rd O/D. PaulH.
