The impeller on the water pump might certainly be worth a check over. Maybe not circulating very well. Is the temp gauge in the rad or in the head? Thanks Duncan

OP is still good, 60 psi at speed 40 at idle. Temp (gauge) probe is in the head. Fan temp probe is in the radiator fins. I will flush it out and check the water pump. It was not overheating during a

Take off the radiator cap and run the motor. If you see bubbles coming up then it is probably the head gasket. If the head gasket fails between the cylinder and water passage, then hot gasses can be

IMHO, it seems to point point to water not being adequately pumped around the jacket.... Is it possible for you to look inside the radiator to see if water is still being circulated at a good rate??

Combustion leak into the water passage. Gradually pushes water out the overflow tube until it's too low for the water pump. Just a pinhole leak will do that, otherwise car will run fine. Paul A
