Thanks for the tips and links. I've replaced it and put @ 100mi on it so far with not problems. No way I could budge the nut with a 1/2" breaker bar. Just couldn't keep the pinion from rotating. I en

Well, it pre-loads the pinion bearing. So if it were over-crushed I'd expect either pinion bearing noise immediately (which is perhaps more likely with an under-loaded pinion bearing allowing too muc
