When the timing is too far advanced it will cause overheating. I would try moving the timing back to about 8 degrees and see what happens. I have a Weber DVG on a 1500 and that is about where my timi

OK, a guess. sometimes the "dots" on the timing gears are off. If lining up the dots was used to set the cam timing, it could be off as much as two teeth and still run, but would lope, like a perform

Are you sure the timing components were reinstalled properly? Except for the power issue, sounds like you might be off a tooth. You should not experience excessive heat just because of a new rebuild.
