Got this 8 h.p. generator that is supposed to push out 4,000 watts constant power. I've had it for years but decided in a recent ice storm to have it run my gas furnace. No dice! In fact, it didn't

What brand of generator is it? Run it with some kind of load, like plug several drop lights into one outlet. Use the volt meter on the other outlet and make sure it is putting out around 120V. The th

Hmmm... a 4kw generator in the average RV runs a rooftop AC, lights, battery chargers, refrigerator, etc. (In warm weather, they certainly run an RV furnace fan...) How do you have it wired into your

Assuming it puts out 120volts, that's 33 amps. Most outlets are 20 amp, the rest are 15. It should be enough for several refrigerators and a furnace fan. Make sure you have it hooked up to the break

I believe 4000 watts should run at least two 15 amp circuits. (15ax120v)=1800 watts *2 = 3600 watts. That is assuming both circuits were both at max using 15 amps. In reality they should be drawing
