I believe black is the ground color throughout the car, so it would stand to reasonthat the battery ground would also be black, regardless of whether it is connected to the pos or neg post on the bat

Frankly, when I converted mine, the color was indistinguishable, as a result of having been exposed to road grime for 25 years. I assume you need to know for the purpose of accurate restoration? -- M
