- A worn out pressure cap wouldn't cause the car to overheat. After my waterpump gave up the ghost on my way home from the Glen one year I ran w/the pressure cap loose so no pressure would build up and

- Is he sure this temp is accurate? The electrical gauge may be telling mistruths. Maybe if you forget to take the cap off first :-) Never had a problem filling mine. NOTE: many aftermarket thermostat

- My 70' 1600 over heated a month ago on a trip to Julian. It appears that the coolant was being pumped out to the overflow and then out of the overflow. ( an expesive cuppacino machine). I had to stop
