Hi Listers, After converting my tranny(van den Akker) I noticed a definate vibration at 60mph@ 3000+ rpm. Some call it harmonic vibration. After talking to Herman, he advised me to rotate the drivesh

The only possible cause would be that the link between the speedo cable and the transmission was being affected by the vibration. That would indicate some sort of magnetic follower gear in the trans

Hi Mark, I really don't have anything different with my speedo. The cable conversion is straight forward . . . it's simply connected to the right side of the tranny and is braced accordingly and trac

I disconnected my driveshaft at the diff. side ( with the tranny in neutral) and rotated it 180 degrees. Al On Mon, 24 Mar 2003 18:15:42 -0500 Mark Hooper <mhooper@pix-cinema.com> writes: __________

Hi Mark, Correction . . . I oriented the diff. 180 degrees to the shaft NOT the shaft to the differential. Sorry. Al On Mon, 24 Mar 2003 18:15:42 -0500 Mark Hooper <mhooper@pix-cinema.com> writes: __

I must be short on caffeine, what is the difference? BTW, I meant to say "Drive shaft" not "Crank shaft" in my note (force of habit). Question: Aren't the diff, transmission and shaft all supposed t

Hi, Mark--The Bentley manual makes reference to "marking" the prop shaft flanges to their counterparts at the transmission tail flange, and the differential drive flange. I found center punch marks o

Hi Dick: I replaced the original transmission with an O/D unit, so the punches don't mean a whole lot for me either. What I cannot remember is if I stupidly assembled the propshaft correctly, or if i

Mark--It's worth a try to change the flange position at both the tranny and diff, one trial at a time. While there, look for U-joint bearing looseness. I suspect this is the culprit. Dick

It is possible to assemble the driveshaft incorrectly. The spline should be assembled so that the yokes on either end are turned the same way. It can vibrate if not assembled correctly. It's a veloci
