I'm a bit new with MGs, but if you've got 185/70-14's (for example), why not try 195/60-15's? The diameter of the wheel/tire combination is virtually the same, 614.6mm (14") vs. 615mm (15"). Is it a

Why use the same spec tire? Why not use a ower profile on the 15" rims to maintain the ride height and gearing? Why not use a 195/60/15? That will improve turn-in do to the lower sidewall height, won

The only problem may be the extra 10mm of cross section, on some cars. I'm running a 195/60x 14 with no rubbing problems. Clearance is adequate all the way around. As the 15" version would be the sam

I've been whatching this business about tires/wheels for a while now. I've seen phrases like "...not suitable for serious xxxxxx driving." The reader can fill in the x's, just don't fill in "competi

Hi Listers - Well with all of this brew-hahahaha about tyre sizes I guess that I'll have to put my two cents worth into the word stew. I used to work in tyres (damn uncomfortable it was, it was!). Wh

REAL Couldn't agree more, Rick, except that you forgot to factor in the "gee whiz" factor. I suspect that the 195x65R15 directional tires and Panasport 15x6 alloy wheels on my V8 project gets an 82 p

Serious "xxxxxx" driving is to the daily comute, as ballet is to disco. For starters, that sized tire is in many cases, not readily availible Secondly, manufacturers, and this includes MG, will spec

Not a flame per se, but a comment. From my experience, the joy of driving these cars is that they can be driven at "the limit" at reasonable road speeds. The ability to let the "tail hang out" during

I'm weighing the plusses and minuses of 14" vs. 15" wheels for my MGB. I have some pros and cons but am wondering if any listers have some definitive answers based on experience. Here goes: 14" Advan

OK, assume that either the 14" or 15" wheels will be of the same make/model (i.e. 72 spoke wires 5.5" wide) and the tires will be the same make/model, (i.e. both 185/60 series). I'm not sure I agree

Given the assumptions you made in the first paragraph, you're right. There will be a difference in the turn in response. Primarily due to the larger diameter tires. Now you have two tires with identi
