A friend of mine owns 2 1960 Bugeye's. We noticed that one car has a large space behind the seats (approx. 1 foot) and the other car has seats located almost against the back with no space in between

If it's a Bugeye and there is space behind the seat it has been modified. The one with no space would be the original one. Larry Miller

Not that I have ever heard of. I've seen ones like you are talking about but they had all been modified. Larry Miller modified.

The ones I saw were just to make more room ans easy access to the boot. They still used the original Bugeye top. Larry Miller trim. bugeye?
