According to Alan Bents site the R411 came with a close ratio four speed. I am not sure about the RL411. It also says it is the complete running gear of a roadster. I don't know if yours is a true R

My aunt's was an automatic and I know she had the RL 411 as it had the roadster engine. The regular R 411 had a single SU if I remember right. An SSS - don't know about if she had one of those. Prett

Lucian: I have done something similar to what you're talking about.. I took the B/W automatic out of a 72 Datsun1200 and replaced it with a 1200 4 speed.. Something you may not expect is the floorpan

The 4 speed gearbox in the RL411 SSS is different to the 4 speed that was available in the regular PL411 sedans, the 1200 and 1300 engines have the starter motor on the opposite side to the R series

The 4 speed manual in the 411 is about 1 to 2 inches shorter than the roadster version as I put one in a roadster and found out. The motor has a neat wing shaped aluminum oil pan though and an intake
