It's not the greatest way to treat an engine but thats what the midgets run at without overdrive. A previous poster noted that you can get an overdrive kit for about $500. That would probably be the

It hasn't hurt my 74 Midget. It has 258,000 on the odo, and about 95,000 on the last rebuild. Of course, I've been known to run it up to 5200RPM on occaision. Rick Morrison 72 MGBGT 74 Midget
