It could be the top and bottom tank seams that are leaking on yours. In this case recoring would be a waste of money, for whilst it would probably fix the leak simply resoldering the seams may fix it

Max and Paul are right on with their analysis. I can only add, if you plan on putting in a new core you may want to consider having an "upgraded" core installed. Basically it has more "layers" (rows)
