of I have a Tremec TKO behind the 351C in my '66 Mustang. It's a he-man tranny. Also, the stock short throw shifter is lousy. It sucks to do a 7000 rpm shift from 3rd to 4th and find 2nd instead. I

A Pro-5.0 makes the world class T-5 a pleasure to speed shift. But the top loader in my Tiger was smooth as silk. Maybe its time for a rebuild.

Right after I rebuilt my toploader, it was pretty "notchy" I guess is the term. It has a lot to do with the detents and how stiff they are set up. The rebuild instructions said this was normal and th

Did an investigation into those, when I had a Mustang, and concur that the TKO Tremec has the better torque capability, over the regular Tremec, the World Class T-5, and the regular T-5. BUT, IMHO,

Yes, but the gears are the same and so is the torque handling capability. Mike, What TREMEC says is that they were the original manufacturer's of the Top Loader, not that their current transmission i

Yup, it looks like the cast iron SROD came out in '77 and they went to aluminum in '79. 1st gear is supposedly a weak point but probably only if you're running slicks. Dan Dan: I am running a cast ir

Interesting. Do they produce the "aftermarket" versions of the T5 (e.g. Z-code T5) for Borg Warner? I guess Borg Warner is concentrating on the T45 5 speed and the T56 6 speed. Dan

Dan, It is my understanding, from TREMEC, that they have acquired all the tooling and rights from Borg Warner when Borg was through with this design. Apparently, as I was told on this list, the same

I'm not sure about the relative order of the top loader and the TKO. I know my road racing buddy and his transmission builder prefer the TKO over the top loader, though more gear ratios are availabl
