Good question. I just canvassed our resident mechanical engineer and nuts'n'bolts curmudgeon. He said grade 8 is not necessarily more brittle than grade 5 and would be appropriate for use in mounting

The only thing that would need to be changed would be the shocks themselves to something a bit smaller, ie for a lighter car. The Midget will weigh in about 600-700 lbs less than the GT. Also, double
