I'm hoping to transfer the backing plates from my original axle to the donor axle. Bad enough to discover that 1 5/16 in sockets are only available in 3/4 in. drive, which means big bucks. Oh well.

Check out Harbor Freight. I was able to get a 3/4" drive set with ratchet, sockets, and breaker bar, for a very reasonable price. The set is adequate, but obviously no where near Proto quality.

Please don't get me wrong here. I'm very fond of top-quality tools. However, I try to make a cost/benefit trade-off on ones that I will use infrequently. The 3/4" drive set was one of those decisions

A cheaper way is to buy the socket and a 3/4 to 1/2 reducer. The reducer at Sears is about $7 dollars. This way you can use your 1/2 in. breaker bar. ...Art
