I would be surprised (but often am) if there would be enough oil pulled in from the timing cover to cause noticable smoking, even with a ruptured PCV valve. The UK spec ones didn't use a PCV valve,

Overbored 1275 (1312) with Kent 276 cam I think the fact uit was an unleaded head conversion with fairly generous valve stem clearances had a lot to do with it! Guy

I know that strong manifold vacuum "could" do possibly do this. How strong it would need to be is something I don't know. I have another PCV valve that I had put on the old worn out motor, and it had
