Ok folks, I am presently using a Crane (Alison) XR3000 ignition in the TR6. I am thinking seriously about switching over to a MSD 6AL unit so that I can have the ability to pop in a lower RPM pill wh

Hey Marty, I'm using the 6AL with a Mallory distributor on points. I hope some day to upgrade to the optical igniton but so far have no issues up to 8000 RPM regularly. I think you just talked to a d

Strange timing for this question. I just ordered all the stuff I need to replace my Lucas distributor/Pertronics setup with a Mallory/Pertronics/MSD 6AL system. Of course it's a TR3/4 not a 6, but th

Forgot to mention, the MSD instructions show how to do this. So MSD is clearly aware that it can be done ... Randall

I've had a seemingly long history of different distributors ("dizzie" in Oz slang) on the TR6. Rags came with stock Lucas with a lot of wear in the shaft bearings. A Pertronix *cured* all associated

Just a few points (yeah thats intentional) regards ongoing discussion of ignition systems... a 4 cylinder engine will run reliably up to 8k with a conventional point system, IF everything is in good
