The reversing switch is mounted on the passenger's side of the gearbox, just at the base, and forward of, the shifter, You should be able to see it by removing the shifter boot, but I'm not sure how

The instructions in the Haynes might be for a 1500 midget. For a 1275 you just need to remove the shift boot assembly then the reverse switch is on the passenger side just in front of the gear shift

The reversing switch takes a 19/32 or 15mm wrench. It's a snug fit with the wrench I have. Just in front of where the screw-in switch is, the two wires should go through a clamp that is attached by
