Thanks for the reply Charlie, I never removed the cover on the side when I orginally removed the shifter, so I might already be screwed. The shifter will not move any farther to the right than the 3r

Hi David, That "22" type piece and it's spring is just a shift lever anti rattle device. Best kept in a baggie with it's small spring until the trans/engine combo is in the car. If the trans is still

BTDT. The little plunger gets corroded or gunked up. That is the reverse plunger or whatever it is called. If you look real close on the far right of the shifter hole you will see the plunger. Squirt

The problem was I had the springy thing in the wrong hole (ouch!) and the reverse plunger was froze. I inserted it in the right hole (with the appropriate sweet nothings) and unfroze the plunger and
