Run on is caused by excessive carbon that glows in the combustion chambers and ignites the fuel. I recommend the following to correct the problem. Reduce the idle speed. Also check the choke to make

As you know, they change gasoline formulation with the seasons. From what I know about your engine, it probably has about 10.5:1 compression or maybe higher, so run-on is to be expected. That's what

John: Both of those sound logical. I had set the carb richer at idle recently, and I've got it idleing at around 950RPM so I'll set it lower, lean the idle out a bit, and see what happens. Steve Sage
